DCA Washington National Airport Poster
DCA Washington National Airport Poster
Poster size is 14" wide by 20" tall, including a one-inch white border, and is printed on heavyweight, acid-free poster stock.
This original art print, illustrated by Chris Bidlack and set in the early 1980's, depicts DCA's iconic 1941 Art Deco Terminal A, and features the second of three control towers to be built atop the building. The tower structure rises in front of the terminal's rooftop mirador and two iconic theodolite domes, which still exist. (For more than five decades after Terminal A's opening, the mirador housed the airport's weather station.) The control tower illustrated in this print existed from 1949 to 1985.
Washington National Airport was at the time the home base of USAir, so it is fitting that this print also includes an ascending USAir Boeing 727-200, illustrated in the carrier's early-80s livery, which was a modification of the final Allegheny Airlines paint scheme.
The print will arrive carefully packaged and ready for you to unroll and frame. (Framing instructions included.) Click on the image to see the full poster in detail. (And of course, the "JetAgeArt.com" watermark does not appear on the actual poster.)
