East Side Airlines Terminal Poster
East Side Airlines Terminal Poster
The poster is 14" wide x 20" tall, including a one-inch white border, and is printed on heavyweight, acid-free poster stock.
In the 1950s and 60s, thousands of New Yorkers utilized the Port Authority’s three airlines terminals to get from Manhattan to the airport. The busiest of these facilities was frequently the East Side Airlines Terminal on First Avenue, which opened in 1953. In this fictionalized illustration by Chris Bidlack, the “leading character” of the print (besides the terminal itself), is the renowned Flxible VisiCoach bus (the same model seen in the movies “Airport,” “North by Northwest,” and countless other films). The East Side Airlines Terminal lasted only three decades, and was torn down to make way for the Corinthian building in the mid-1980s. The old Carey buses served New York for 47 years under a contract with the Port Authority until 1997. Today, it’s all a memory.
It will arrive carefully packaged and ready for you to unroll and frame. (Framing instructions included.) Click on the image to see the full poster in detail. (And of course, the "JetAgeArt.com" watermark does not appear on the actual poster.)
